  Wiltshire Independent Visitor Scheme

  Wiltshire Independent Visitor Scheme provides young people living in the care system with the long-term support of an independent adult befriender, throughout the time they are in care. Independent visitors meet young people for 2-3 hours every 2-3 weeks and enjoy social activities together as well as providing the young person with advice, support and a listening ear if they are experiencing any difficulties in their lives.

  The King’s School, business mentoring – Pontefract

  The King’s School, Pontefract is a specialist maths and computing college with over a 1000 pupils. It has run a number of mentoring and peer mentoring programmes for a number of years

  Partner in Business programme, Career Academies UK case study

  Career Academies UK was set up in 2002 and now works with 110 schools and colleges across the UK with the support of over 900 businesses. The aim of the programme is to raise the aspirations and employability skills of 16-to-19 year old students studying A-level or equivalent qualifications.

  Chance UK – one-to-one mentoring for children with behavioural difficulties, London

  Chance UK was set up in 1995 in Islington, London, to reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour across the UK. They do this by providing one-to-one mentoring for children aged 5-11 with behavioural difficulties

  Digitall, intergenerational mentoring – London

  Digitall brings together young people aged 18- 25 who are willing to share their knowledge and experience of using computers and the internet with people aged over 45 who are interested in getting to grips with new technology. Young people act as mentors, supporting their mentee on a one-to-one basis to achieve their digital goals

• Budmouth Technology College Helping Hands peer mentoring scheme

  Budmouth is a specialist technology college for 11 to 18 year olds in Weymouth catering for over 1,500 students. Since 2003, the College has developed a student-led peer mentoring scheme aimed at those not already receiving support within the school system e.g. through the special educational needs (SEN) base. Thus it aims to help ‘middle of the road’ students who are struggling with confidence or transition – tackling issues which could develop into bigger problems.
