Volunteer Mentors needed!

22 February 2012

Volunteer Recruitment for the Employment Mentoring Project is now underway and we are aiming  to have 35 Mentoring relationships up and running by the end of April 2012.

We’ve had a steady stream of interest via the Manchester volunteer bureaus and the volunteering website Do It. The project recently seen its potential volunteer numbers boosted by over 50% at a ‘speed matching’ volunteering event hosted by Manchester University.

The project which is being run in partnership with Remploy has developed a new and innovative programme to support the development and progression of candidates within Remploy Employment Services through face to face and e mentoring.

Remploy candidates will be matched with Volunteer Mentors to support development of confidence, motivation, aspirations, self esteem, vocational and life skills leading to increased success in securing and sustaining employment.

If you are able to commit at least 1 hour of your time a week to support people who are disabled or disadvantaged to achieve there employment potential, have good communication skills, are able to maintain boundaries, are pragmatic in your approach to resolving problems and have a good sense of humour please contact Paul at paul.wainhouse@mandbf.org Tel: 0161 813 1132 or see our volunteer job description and download our Volunteer Application Form the MBF website job page.

We are looking  to run our next Volunteer Induction Training at the beginning of May.
