The aim of this course is:
To provide specialist guidance on how to set up a safe and effective telephone befriending scheme and what is required to prepare volunteers to become effective telephone befrienders. We’ve developed this course in consultation with the London Telephone befriending forum and its members.
This course has been developed within the framework of our Approved Provider Standard and will support your journey to getting accredited.
This course will help you to:
• Identify which model of telephone befriending is appropriate to meet the needs of your service users
• Identify the key roles and responsibilities in your telephone befriending project
• Establish appropriate referral and induction procedures
• Determine recruitment, selection and screening processes for telephone befrienders
• Identify what is needed to prepare volunteers for their roles
• Identify appropriate policies and procedures for a safe and effective telephone befriending programme
Supporting materials:
You will receive the generic Setting up a successful mentoring or befriending toolkit for free (worth £45.00) which covers all the steps involved in setting up, developing and implementing a mentoring or befriending programme. You will
also receive comprehensive course notes and handouts.
