The aim of this course is:

To provide you with practical guidance on how to set up and manage a safe and effective mentoring or befriending programme.  It has been developed to help you meet elements 1-8 of our Approved Provider Standard. Part B* will cover elements 9-12.

This course will help you to:

  • Clarify your project’s aims
  • Identify which style and model of mentoring or befriending is appropriate for your client group
  • Identify key roles and responsibilities for the effective management of your project
  • Establish appropriate referral and induction procedures for your clients
  • Establish a rigorous recruitment, selection and screening process for volunteers
  • Identify the key policies and procedures required for a safe and effective programme

Who should attend?

Those  who are  setting up a mentoring or befriending programme;  those attending Part B and   those who are applying for the Approved Provider Standard. It is also relevant to those who are designing or planning mentoring or befriending services or strategies.
