Volunteering – The Business Case

Reports on the benefits of corporate volunteering programmes in education. It highlights the positive effects of employee volunteering, including mentoring, for the business involved and outlines the key development skills that mentors reported that they gained. These included greater adaptability and effectiveness, influening and negotiating skills, improved decision-making and exercising judgement, developing skills and ability to help others. Ninety nine per cent of mentors said that their experience had increased their understanding and empathy with other people. The report also looks at the financial costs of these development gains and a number of case studies from corporates using volunteer mentoring are included.
