Brooke Kinsella was asked by the Home Secretary to head up a fact-finding mission into the work of schemes designed to prevent young people carrying and using knives. This report highlights the factors whichmake a project successful and relevant to today’s young people, and identifies some of the underlying causes of knife crime.
The projects visited included those focusing on weapons awareness, positive activities (such as sport, music and drama), volunteering, mentoring, education, enforcement and employment prospects. A range of mentoring schemes are included in the report.
