M&M Project Year 1 Evaluation

Year of publication: 2011

Publisher: Housing Justice

Summary: The overall aim of the M&M Project was to test and develop the contribution that formal befriending schemes can make to ending rough sleeping by supporting current and former rough sleepers as they move through church-based winter shelters and into more permanent accommodation. The project ran from January 2010 to January 2011 and worked with four night shelters. Cost was £2100 per relationship.

Areas of greatest improvement for mentees and befriendees were meaningful use of time, emotional and mental health, social network and relationships
