This literature review was undertaken to inform Demos’ longitudinal evaluation of Mosaic and MERLIN mentoring schemes. It focuses on the importance of aspirations and relevant skills for the educational and professional attainment of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups, with a special focus on Muslims, and how far mentoring programmes can contribute to developing these skills.
