Girls and offending – patterns, perceptions and interventions
Year of publication: 2009Author: Eagle, Susannah; Arnull, Elaine
Publisher: Youth Justice Board (YJB)
Summary: Concern has grown that the number of females involved in offending has risen although most youth crime is committed by young men. Research aimed to give an overview of knowledge about girls who offend. Indicates that girls and boys prefer interventions which are different; girls prefer the building of one-to-one relationships and a female-only environment, whereas boys prefer more structure and rules.
