Evaluation of Family Friends befriending and mentoring service 2008-2009

Summary: An independent, small-scale, qualitative evaluation from 2008 to 2009. The focus of the evaluation was on what the service delivered, how satisfied families and volunteers were with the service and what benefits were gained by families and volunteers.
Family Friends provides befriending and mentoring services to families in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. On average Family Friends supports 85 families each year. Over 80% of these families are from BME communities and over 65% are single-parent-headed households. Almost all families are receiving social benefits.
