Summary: Final report of a three-year evaluation of a smoking cessation befriending project in North Glasgow. In 2005 a new befriending project was established in North Glasgow to complement existing smoking cessation service provision. The project was designed to support people who want to stop smoking by matching them with a volunteer from their community who would provide them with encouragement and support before, during and after their quit attempt as required. Support was provided both face-to-face and by telephone. Concluded that project had been very successful.
