Third Sector Apprenticeships – new training for charities to develop skills in campaigning, fundraising and volunteer management

2 February 2012

Skills – Third Sector have developed three new Apprenticeships training programmes for charities and social enterprises – in campaigning, fundraising and volunteer management.

Apprenticeships are a combination of paid employment and training. The government has increased funding to increase the number of Apprenticeship places available with the aim that your organisation’s sustainability and services will improve if you have someone trained in up-to-date skills tailored to meet your needs.

The organisation Fair Train builds capacity in the third sector to employ apprentices and can provide help, advice and support if you are interested in employing an apprentice or have a current employee that might be interested in theses training opportunities. For more information call their advice line on 0844 669 7430 or visit their website.

The new Apprenticeships include the following skills:

  • Advanced Apprenticeship in Campaigning: understanding campaign strategies, developing clear messages and communications channels, conducting research, developing workplans, monitoring and evaluating campaigns.
  • Advanced Apprenticeship in Fundraising: developing and implementing a fundraising plan, monitoring and sustaining relationships with donors and specialise in two additional areas.
  • Advanced Apprenticeship in Volunteer Management: supervising and supporting volunteers, promoting opportunities, motivating volunteers, managing risks, developing procedures.

For more general information about the new Apprenticeships programme see the Skills – Third Sector website
