Guidance and support
We support the expansion of quality mentoring and befriending provision to enable people to reach their full potential and improve their life choices. If you are looking to set up or commission a mentoring or befriending service for the first time or want to develop your existing service further, then our specialist guidance and support can help you.
“I felt supported and encouraged by MBF – advice and information to an exceptional standard; everything you need to run a project.”
(Redbridge befriending scheme)
We produce a wide range of resources including guides, toolkits, reports, information sheets, a bank of good practice examples plus an extensive training programme - all offering the good practice and support you need to make your service a safe, effective and quality-driven one. We aim to improve skills, knowledge and to inspire excellence in mentoring and befriending provision across the country. Our consultancy service can also support you with personalised, specialist advice and expertise.
To find out more about mentoring and befriending, what it involves and its benefits, see our section on: What is mentoring and befriending?
We can also support you in working towards the Approved Provider Standard (APS) – the only national quality standard designed specifically for mentoring and befriending services. Our Knowledge centre brings together in one place all resources, case studies, training and research on our website. You can search by topic, client group, specific area of project delivery to pinpoint the information that is most relevant for you.
Do let us know about any useful resources that you’ve developed that we could share with other projects by emailing info@mandbf.org
